VOIP Consultant
By doups3
With the change in the economic situation, companies and individuals are looking for different ways in which they can save money when it comes to telecommunications. This has led to the need of a VOIP consultant that will offer them different options that match their exact requirements. This has also been made necessary by the increasing number of VOIP telecommunications service providers who are out to offer the clients different services and products without necessarily meeting their needs. Apart from this, there are many other reasons for selecting VoIP consulting services and clients need to consider a number of things before they make their choice.
For starters, the company should identify some of the VOIP consultants in the field and start checking them out. This information can be provided by a number of people including friends, family, and colleagues. Clients may also carry out a search on the Internet where they will be able to find various consultants that will guide them in their business VOIP needs. They might also check the local directories as well as the yellow and white pages from where they will get addresses and telephone numbers necessary for correspondence.
Before making their choice, clients need to determine their business
VOIP needs in terms of VOIP telephony and other needs. They will need to
set out factors such as the VOIP implementation in terms of size and
scope as well as the number of users in different locations, and the
call load they will be using. In connection to this, they will also need
to determine the equipment they would like to use and this includes the
IP phones, VOIP PBX, and others. Other important things to plan out
include the addition of networks or installation of new networks,
software and software integration requirements, and the expected time
period of the project. Once all this has been carried out, the client
should then send a request for proposal that contains all the above
details to the prospective VoIP consultants.
When receiving the responses, clients should keep in mind a number of
things. For starters, they should check out the VOIP consultants that
have offered a number of workable solutions to them as well as the plan
on how to implement the solutions in terms of design, installation, and
features. The other thing to watch out for is the total cost of the
consulting fees, as this will determine if the company will be selected
for the project or not depending on the financial situation of the
client. After checking all these out, the client should then pick out
several of the best VOIP consultants and set up an interview with them.
Before the interview, the client should re-examine their needs and make
last-minute changes if necessary. They should also set out a strategy
through which the consultants will be evaluated and the winner picked.
While carrying out the interview, some of the factors that the client
should keep in mind are the years of experience that each consultant has
as well as whether they specialize in the VOIP as their primary
consultancy or if it is only secondary. They may also ask for references
for the VOIP consultation services being offered in order to find out
what other clients have said about them. One thing the client has to
remember is that while interviewing a team, they should find out if
their presenter will be working with them on the project to get direct
answers from the one who will be responsible for its management.
The interview will also provide the clients a chance to find out the
personality of the consultant(s) and their way of working. The clients
will be able to find out how the VOIP consultant analyzes situations and
how realistic the presentation sounds. This interview will also offer
insight on whether they will hire the consultant temporarily or on a
permanent basis. Since they are a very important team in the whole
process of phone migration, consultants should have adequate knowledge
of how to setup VOIP systems and need to be involved in the entire process. If
from the interview the client sees that they cannot hire a particular
VOIP consulting firm on a permanent basis, then they should consider
another VOIP consultant. After selecting the consultant that the company
considers capable, they should ask them for a formal outline of the
project that gives details of the work that is to be done and the
payment agreement. Many consultants will probably recommend managed VoIP services because this type of service makes it so the provider does all the work and you just get the benefit of using the Internet to make calls.
Since business VOIP is very important for many types of business,
selection of the right VoIP consultant is very essential. This will
enable the business to get the right solutions for their business VOIP
needs and enjoy the benefits that include reduced costs, easier
operations when it comes to multi-site companies, and international
communications.

VOIP Qos has been a battle of many consultant and providers. You can only enable QoS on the segment of the network you manage. You have no control of what happens once you voice packets leave this network.
A new hybrid ISP/VOIP providers are showing up on the scene now that introduce term VOPI (Voice over Private Internet). It is very neat idea:
running VOIP of your own national network.
You should look into it some day, I think this will be the next step in improving VOIP quality.
